Liphakoe 2-1 Likhopo: Liphakoe respond with hard fought Win

Tsepang Makapa struck the goals in the first half and second half of the game,taking turns apiece to set each other up as Thabo Tsutsulupa’s side grew in confidence.

Liphakoe FC kicked off the season today with a hard fought win against stubborn FC Likhopo which looked prepared for this 2018-19 campaign. Both teams started reasonably well at LCS ground but it wasn’t long before Liphakoe began to take control and dominate possession,playing a good team game from the back to front.


The first half Goal…

The maroon and gold flair ran through the whole move.

Tlotliso Tumahole’s delicate pass turned a rudimentary ball in the air into a chance for Thato Moabi’s to spring an unmarked Makapa into space on the left and the forward’s stunning shot that found Likhopo’s goalkeeper Mokhanya Mokhanya.

Makapa made a touch to set himself and a confident drive into the  the net, and the The Maroon and gold were in front.

FC Likhopo appeared undeterred by the setback initially and continued to probe for possible chances of their own by moving the ball as quickly as possible into their diamond of attacking players.

In the other direction, though, the high line being operated by Likhopo was almost exposed midway through the half when Rammoneng dinked a pass into a completely free Makapa. Just offside.

The game went to half time with Liphakoe 1-0 Likhopo.

The second half…

Malefetsane Mahlaha introduced the substitutes early in the second half of the game and The Red were more dangerous immediately.

With an element of tension suddenly added to the occasion, the Reds found themselves under greater pressure yet simultaneously with plenty of opportunities to  attack.

Liphakoe made a first substitute of the game by bringing in a new signing Tseole Ranthimo and taking out Thato Moabi.

Likhopo found themselves in to the box after Rethabile Letseka mismanaged them on the right of Liphakoe FC eighteens, Tlotliso Tumahole caused a foul in the box which resulted in penalty. Likhopo didn’t hesitate with their new signing Santi Ntsohi with a stunning shot which passed Chaba to the back of the net to give a game stalemate.

Liphakoe pressed to find a goal after conceding which forced FC Likhopo to make a series of set pieces which Liphakoe couldn’t covert.

Monyobo Mosebo was introduced as a substitute and he made his first Premiere League appearance after joinin the maroon and gold from LCS Development which play in the lower division of Lesotho Football.


FC Likhopo were booked red after a deliberate elbowing of retaliation to Relebohile Moloinyane which caused a set piece against FC Likhopo.

Tsepang Makapa rescued Liphakoe with a stunning header in the last minutes of the game from  Rammoneng’s free-kick near the box where Relebohile Moloinyane was elbowed. Makapa couldnt hesitate but headed it and pass Mokhanya Mokhanya to give Liphakoe a win.

Makapa’s goal was his first brace in the Premiere League and the first brace of 2018-19 season.

This was a first league win for a new coach Mr Thabo Tsutsulupa in his first game of the season.
