A draw in a final game of 2019

The Maroon and Gold and Masheshena played out a goalless draw on Saturday evening, with neither side unable to break the deadlock.

Thabo Tsutsulupa made  changes to the starting line-up from the last week win against Lifofane forced by injuries and absentees. Liphakoe played without regular starters including Moeketsi Sephiri,Moena Moalosi, Thabiso Rasekoai and Tséole Ranthimo who as on bench due to recovery from flue. There were changes in defence with Basia Letuka starting after recovering from an ankle injury,Mapheelle Manosa started on the left wing back and Mpho Hlephole started for the first time playing in the right back due to the absence of Moena Moalosi. Thaane Mokoena also started in the forward for Liphakoe.

Liphakoe had a good start dominating in the  midfield and playing with high tempo denying LCS a space and time on the ball,it was a frustration to the 3rd place and current Independence cup finalists.

Third place LCS made the better start to the first half, twice going close through Makara Ntaitsane but Liphakoe was solid with Tlotliso Tumahole who denying and nonsense in his area.

The introduction of Tseole Ranthimo  and Mocoane Ntema gave Liphakoe alternative attacking options, with Ntema looking lively on the break. It was from a Liphakoe’s attack, with LCS goalkeeper saving well, that the maroon and gold looked threatening, with Manosa’s cross being diverted away from goal.

Liphakoe had a chance from Thaane Mokoena whose shot went wide.

In the second half of the game Tseole Ranthimo of Liphakoe received a red card from a tackle while Keketso Snyder was red carded for fighting.

Masheshena had the final chance of the second half but could not make the breakthrough. Thetso Phosholi’s superb cross-field ball found , who fired wide of goal from inside the area, bringing the first half to a goalless conclusion.
